Volunteers Needed for Flood Recovery in Hunt
Our member Jacob Forester with Integrity Lot and Grounds has been working closely with Reach Global, the long-term disaster relief volunteer organization coordinating operations in Hunt Texas. They are looking for individuals or groups to help with the immediate task of debris sorting and removal. Manpower is needed for clearing affected properties, such as picking items up by hand or with shovels/rakes, as well as people who are experienced with a chainsaw. Additionally, there is a need for equipment such as skid steers and excavators. Volunteers should be aware that the working environment is physically demanding, involving uneven terrain and hot, humid conditions.
Reach Global is also looking to create a database of skilled trades volunteers for the upcoming rebuild process. Their short-term plan is to create temporary housing using damaged homes/cabins for out-of-town volunteer groups to stay closer to the work sites. Long term, they will oversee the entire process from clean-up to complete restoration of these properties, at no cost to the owners.

Welcome to the website for the San Antonio Association of Building Engineers. We are a San Antonio networking association that promotes Building Engineers, Maintenance Technicians and our local vendors and suppliers building beneficial relationships. Our primary focus is to provide education to our membership to keep techniques, technology and experience up to date and allow education to help further careers. We host a monthly membership luncheon and training, First Thursday training for engineers and other training and building tours throughout the year. SAWS CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT
Join us for our August Joint luncheon as we hear from SAWS Conservation department. They are offering training sessions on the new electronic water meters that are now actively being installed across the SAWS service area.
The ability of these meters to provide hourly data remotely means that customers can be notified after 48 hours of Continuous Use is registered on the meter. As customers are notified, SAWS provides resources at the link below and also includes a Customer – Plumber Checklist that the customer and plumber complete together on a leak investigation.
